Employees gathered this week to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by joining hands and reading King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. This year marks the third time the BWH community has congregated to read the speech – an event that has become a proud tradition at the hospital.
“Speaking King’s words and reciting them aloud, rather than revisiting the speech through video has proven to be both a moving and powerful experience,” said Robin Vann Ricca, director of Organizational Development, Training and Diversity Management at BWH.
In addition to reading the speech, Vivian Cooley-Collier, a member of BWH’s Office for Women's Careers and an accomplished soloist, led the crowd in song. During the event, participants also had the opportunity to reflect on King’s legacy while watching documentary footage.
